The Golden State Warriors have officially announced a two-year contract extension with head coach Steve Kerr.
The 60-year-old American reached an agreement on the deal over the past weekend, with the team making the announcement public.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue coaching this team. This organization has meant so much to me over the last 12 years—from the owners to our players, coaching staff, and fans. Being part of something so special is an incredible privilege. I am excited to keep fighting alongside this group,” Kerr said in a statement on the Warriors’ official website.
Kerr has been at the helm of Golden State since 2014, leading the franchise to four NBA championships, a record 73 wins in a single season, and six NBA Finals appearances.
He boasts a career regular-season record of 604 wins and 353 losses, along with a 104-48 playoff record. Kerr was named NBA Coach of the Year for the 2015-2016 season. The Warriors last captured the title in 2022.
In the current season, Golden State failed to reach the playoffs, exiting in the play-in tournament after a 111-96 loss to the Phoenix Suns.
